I was born in Germany and brought up with the Patience of my Parents,they bred Boxers and I think this connected me to the Shar Pei's.
In the late 80's I got hooked with this wonderful breed and eventually we bought our first two Shar-Pei's from the Shar Pei Kennel "La Strada"/Germany 1988.
We went to look at the litter, I liked the cream brushcoat Female but my Husband wanted the black Brushcoat male so we could not agree so we just bought both.
The first time I saw the little cream girl it made me a fan of the dilutes. Although, after all these Years I have come to like all the colour's, but I am still a big fan of the Dilute Shar-Pei's.
Now after nearly 20 Years of wrinkly Faces and more as 20 Champions (International , German , Luxembourg , Poland etc.) we are still addicted to this wonderful Breed.
We are a small Hobby Kennel based in the west of Scotland UK and breed for good type, temperament and health .
The Shar-pei is not for everyone. They can be very STUBBORN, and need proper training and socialization to become a well adjusted family companion. This takes effort on the part of the owner. If you're time is very limited, or you're not interested in spending some time training, then this breed is probably not for you.
The life expectancy of a Shar-pei is about 8-12 years. Purchase your dog from a reputable breeder, and he will give you many years of devotion. There is no other breed that will love you like your Shar-pei will.
